Aaron Spiers group farewell show 8.00pm tonight at The Ellington


This performance will feature a brand new line-up of the Aaron Spiers Quintet starring Tal Cohen-Piano, Sean Little-Saxophones, Jacob Evans-Drums and Wency D’Souza-Percussion, performing Aaron’s signature mix of latin, funk and jazz inspired fusion. The music will be an energetic synthesis of improvisation and composition intermingled with bustling grooves that will stimulate and excite the senses.

Aaron’s recent album Rediscovery, was nominated for best jazz song at the recent WAMI music awards and features Perth stalwarts Troy Roberts, Tim Jago and Ben Vanderwal, and will be available for purchase on the night. The album feature’s five of Aaron’s original compositions in addition to a version of Wayne Shorter’s Elegant People and Juan Tizol’s Caravan.

Aaron is a WAAPA graduate who has performed with jazz artist’s including James Morrison, David Campbell, Graeme Lyall, Joe Chindamo, Terrel Stafford, Ron Carter, WAYJO and MFO as well as WASO, Ben Lee, Kate Ceberano and Guy Sebastian.

Aaron’s most recent Perth Jazz Society performances include tribute concerts to the music of Weather Report and Joni Mitchell/Jaco Pastorius. This performance however, will heavily feature Aaron’s original compositions, which can be found online at: www.aaronspiersmusic.bandcamp.com
