This week at The Ellington


As the weather warms up and the days get longer, we are stopping our early trio sets on Friday and Saturday, but they'll be back again in the cooler months. Opening times are now 7.00pm Friday and Saturday but we still have 9 great shows over 7 nights.

MONDAY 29th October 7.00pm Chamber Jam

Chamber Jam @ The Ellington is a night of chamber music in Perth like no other.  Join some of Australia’s leading musicians in three outstanding ensembles performing in one of Perth’s most intimate live music venues. Featuring Fiddlesticks - Pascale Whiting (violin), Sophie Curtis (cello) and Duncan Gardiner (guitar) performing repertoire spanning tango and contemporary and familiar classics. Mixt - Matt Styles (Saxophone) and Adam Pinto (Piano) performing everything from Richard Rodney Bennett, John Williams and Jacques Ibert to Chick Corea, Charlie Parker and George Gerswhin. Cathie Travers - Solo accordion with live electronics. Inspired by the great minimalists Reich, Riley and Nyman, flavoured with gypsy, folkloric and tango seasoning, Cathie Travers’ accordion is filtered, flanged, looped and caressed in a set of original tunes [plus a Piazzolla tango]. Click here for tickets

TUESDAY 5.30pm - 9.30pm WAAPA Jazz graduation recitals. 

Featuring 5.30pm Talya Valenti, 6.30pm Nick Di Gregorio, 7.30 Laura Corney and 8.30 Jeremy Thomson. WAAPA's finest Jazz Bachelor of music students will amaze you with their incredible skills in their final graduation showcase. Tonight is the final night of Jazz recitals and will culminate at 10.00pm with the presentation of the scholarships and prizes for best Jazz and Contemporary music students. Click here for tickets

WEDNESDAY 8.00pm A tribute to Thelonious Monk with Ben Vanderwal

Get set for a fun night featuring the incredible compositional legacy of Thelonious Monk. Led by convivial, entertaining, jocular and amusing commentary of Jazz drum great Ben Vanderwal, this evening promises not only a night of fine music but a good laugh or two along the ride. Presenting the show billed as "Monk on Ice (the musical)" is a good indication of the line of thought gone into the narrative behind the music. Taking care of the more serious side of business will be Tal Cohen (piano), Nick "the Abbey" (bass), Ben Vanderwal (drums) Roger Garrood (saxophone) and the high priest of jazz guitar Ray Walker. Click here for tickets

THURSDAY 8.00pm MFO - New Sounds New

The Mace Francis Orchestra is back after 8 months in hiding since their last performance.  No-one knows why so best not to ask too many questions. Tonights performance will feature new compositions from MFO's upcoming project called "Music for Average Photography" - an exploration of exciting music to accompany really bad photos and there will also be the premiere performance of "A Short Ditty for Prepared Jazz Orchestra". FRIDAY 8.00pm James Flynn Cocktails and Crooners

With the Graham Wood Trio plus special guest Carl Mackey - Join popular, velvet voiced singer James Flynn for another, packed to the brim, night of entertainment. This is James’s last performance in WA before heading overseas for concerts throughout Asia, India & Europe and wont return to Perth until April 2013. A natural entertainer with a dynamic stage presence Flynn will take through the most popular sounds of current jazz stars, Michael Buble, Jamie Cullum and mix them with the timeless hits of Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Chet Baker, Bobby Darin to present a feast of wonderful music. Click here for tickets

FRIDAY 11.30pm Cartel

Cartel began as a collaboration between bassist Ash Sinclair and keyboardist Chris Travaglini. They both wanted a band that could pay homage to the great 70's, 80's and 90's soul, R&B and pop tracks in all of their synthesized goodness. They were incredibly fortunate to acquire some of Perth's most experienced and talented young musicians and singers who shared the same vision. A few days later, rehearsals were scheduled, and Cartel was born. Their debut gig will feature classics from the 70's, 80's and 90's legends such as Chaka Khan, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Prince and many more. The members are Solomon Pitt - Vocals, Elise Lynelle - Vocals, Josh Dyson - Guitar, Chris Travaglini - Keyboards, Ash Sinclair - Bass and Elliot Smith - Drums. SATURDAY 8.00pm Penny King Quintet

Described as a ‘sumptuous storyteller’, any one of Penny’s  shows will take you on an eclectic journey, reflecting her wide range of influences, from Billie Holiday to Beady Belle, Duke Ellington to Kurt Elling, Joni Mitchell to Bjork, and all stops in between.  With her hard swinging style, impeccable phrasing and intonation, and distinctive interpretations, Penny and her band ensure that every show is truly a unique experience. SATURDAY 11.30pm Empire with Elise Lynelle

Empire has established itself as one of Perth's leading young bands with a tight band sound and a high energy performance level. After former singer Ryan Thronicroft decided to take a break, Empire have continued to perform with a range of guest singers. Tonight they are joined by Elise Lynelle who presents her own unique style and charisma, she carries the influences of Motown, blues and soul. She is without doubt, an exceptional natural talent with a flair for all things RnB, Soul and Funk. Elise's vocal sounds will transform and delight your senses as she takes you on a musical journey featuring a blend of classic songs, mixed with exciting new repertoire. Click here for tickets

SUNDAY 6.00pm Jake Dennis

Jake Dennis is a romantic and soulful jazz singer who interprets every song with sincerity and verve.  His powerful renditions of classics like “Georgia On My Mind” and “God Bless the Child” are beautiful explorations of melody and lyric. Jake is a vocalist who honours the spirit of the songwriters’ intentions while also illuminating, through improvisation, new possibilities. MONDAY November 5th 7.00pm WAAPA Jazz Vocal showcase

Start your week with the lush sounds of WAAPA's talented Jazz vocalists! Join us for an uplifting evening of closely harmonised jazz classics such as 'In a Mellow Tone' (a la New York Voices), along with anthemic Brazilian songs such as Magalena and Sambadouro (Sergio Mendes). A sung recipe of how to make Chili Con Carne will also feature on the musical menu! The WAAPA Jazz Vocal Ensemble directed by Victoria Newton feature 15 voices who have been busy performing in various WAAPA productions throughout the year including a recent sell out performance of Carnivale to Corcovado with the WAAPA Latin Ensemble. Click here for tickets

The Lighthouse Trio (UK) headlines this week at The Ellington


Join us Saturday and/or Sunday evening for a spellbinding taste of some of the finest music from Europe with the enigmatic Lighthouse Trio. Tim Garland, Gwilym Simcock and Asaf Sirkis are all leaders in their respective fields but as The Lighthouse Trio they certainly prove that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We are also pleased to present Sydney singer/songwriter Mark Wilkinson whose songwriting and delivery have often drawn comparisons to Tracy Chapman and David Gray. Two new late night groove debut shows this weekend with Dd Soul featuring Chelsea Cullen on Friday and Danielle O'Sullivan will round out another fantastic week of music at The Ellington.

MONDAY 7.00pm Song Lounge

Song Lounge features a selection of Australia's leading singer-songwriters together for an evening of wine, tapas and storytelling. Featuring Trent Jean - a musical style likened to John Mayer, Matt Corby and Ed Sheeran, Rachel Dillon - an authoritative story teller tendering hand woven songs about change. Jacob Diamond - writes groovy little tunes with a rare focus on melody. Fitting somewhere into the category of folk/alt/pop/singer-songwriter/jazz/polka. Minky G & Rosco - a mix of catchy originals and a few well chosen covers, a combination that makes for a fun and laid back live show. Click here for tickets

WEDNESDAY 8.00pm Tal Cohen Quartet 

Regarded as one of the most exciting young jazz pianists around, Tal Cohen is a fine talent who brings to the stage a refreshing approach to jazz piano, not just as a pianist but also as a refined composer. "Tal is a very talented and disciplined piano improviser. He is a special talent that needs to be heard... check him out"  - George Garzone. THURSDAY 8.00pm Carl Mackey Quintet

Carl returns to the Ellington stage, bringing with him a stellar assembly of talent. You can expect a night of high energy music, with a repertoire drawn from the song books of various artists, including John Scofield, and a few new originals thrown in the mix. FRIDAY 6.00pm The Russell Homes Trio 

WAMI award winning Jazz Pianist, Russell Holmes has performed with many great jazz ensembles including MPS, Frames of Minds, The Raggabillys, Hip Mo Toast and artists such as Dale Barlow, Red Rodney and many others. Most recent highlights would include being invited to perform at the Celimontana Jazz Festival in Rome, Italy  ( July2006 ) and supporting James Taylor at the infamous Leeuwin concert. The trio explore the art and essence of the piano trio with their own well defined flavour and personality. The group swings hard and grooves with reminiscent vibes of the Oscar Peterson Trio as well as more contemporary groups like the Brad Mehldau Trio, Keith Jarrett Trio and Herbie Hancock. Click here for tickets

FRIDAY 8.00pm Mark Wilkinson (Sydney)

Mark Wilkinson presents "Benny's On The Rooftop", the first single lifted from his forthcoming album.  Having become a crowd favourite and staple of Mark's live show, this dark up-tempo track seemed an obvious choice to introduce his new studio sound. Along with the studio single, Mark brings with him "Hand Picked", a brand new acoustic album now released for the first time nationally.  A stunning collection of fan favourites and lesser known gems, this album recreates the intimacy of Mark's live show. Click here for tickets

FRIDAY 11.30pm Dd Soul featuring Chelsea Cullen

Chelsea Cullen is one of the most exciting and talented singer song writer to emerge from the Perth music scene in recent years. Her music is written from the heart with inspiring lyric's and melody's, cleverly interpreting issues & emotions in modern life. Dd Soul are a newly formed session band from Perth consisting of Daine Spowart (Drums), Dario Jiritano [Big D] (Bass), Pete Flude (Guitar and Vocals), Norberto Flamenco [Norb] (Keys/Piano). SATURDAY 6.00pm James Flynn Trio 

“Let’s get intimate” - Join James for a rare and intimate performance with Graham Wood on Piano & Nick Abbey on Bass. This unplugged early evening concert is a great opportunity to enjoy a great set as the entree to your Saturday evening entertainment. Flynn, will as always, use his wonderful, charm, talent and humour to take you on a nostalgic journey through some of the greatest hits of the American songbook. SATURDAY 8.00pm The Lighthouse Trio (UK)

The newly invigorated Lighthouse trio punch deep into exciting groove-based tunes, inspired Celtic rhythms and an eclectic mix of Chick Corea, Bill Bruford, Yellowjackets, John Coltrane, and DJ Carl Cox.  Grammy winner Tim Garland and Barclaycard Mercury nominated pianist Gwilym Simcock are two of the most outstanding composers of our time in both jazz and classical genres and are regarded as among the very best in the world on their respective instruments. With the help of her grooving band, Danielle O'Sullivan will bring you a night of RnB, Soul and Funk. Her fluid voice and the tasteful blend of styles create a great line up of music for a great night out. SUNDAY 3.00pm The Brilliance of Benny Goodman

Presented by The South Perth Lions Big Band. Featuring: Phil Hatton (clarinet), Rob Hyner (piano), Dave Gryl (drums) and The DIVINE MISS M’S vocal group. Benny Goodman is one of the great figures in jazz.  With his big band he almost single handedly created the swing era and with his iconic small groups he pioneered the path towards small group jazz as we know it today. Added to that is the fact that he was one of the greatest jazz musicians of any instrument, not just the clarinet. Click here for tickets

Simon Barker (Sydney) headlines this week at The Ellington


Simon Barker is recognised as one of Australia's most unique and virtuosic drummers and we are delighted to host him on Wednesday and Friday night in two quite different settings. Wednesday is an instrumental quartet with Oehlers-Jeans-Jeavons and then Allira Wilson will be singing Friday with Graham Wood taking over on piano. Simon is involved in several collaborative projects including Chiri (Scott Tinkler and Bae Il Dong), Band of Five Names, Showa 44 (duo with Carl Dewhurst), and Lost Thoughts (duo with Scott Tinkler). Also don't miss the wonderful Elly Hoyt on Saturday night who won the Bell Award for Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album 2011. Another two action pack nights of graduation recitals on Monday and Tuesday and Laura Bernay launches her new CD on Sunday.

THURSDAY 8.00pm WAYJO NOW!!

WA Youth Jazz Orchestra presents the World Premiere of new jazz compositions by 2012 Composer-in-Residence, Andrew Murray. WAYJO's Composer-in-Residence is selected annually from some of Australia's most exciting up-and-coming talent. Andrew is a valve trombonist/arranger/composer who has studied with and acted as assistant to Bob Brookmeyer, Ed Partyka and Ed Neumeister whilst studying his Masters of Music in Austria. At the 2009 Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Andrew won the APRA & Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra's 'National Big Band Composing Competition', and in June that same year was the winner of Sweden's International Big Band Competition. This is the next generation of jazz - musicians and composers who redefine the boundaries. Click here for tickets

FRIDAY 6.00pm James Sandon - Tom O'Halloran - Ben Vanderwal trio

Don't miss this soulful and blues based trio playing in the classic organ trio setting. James is joined by Tom O'Halloran on the Hammond and keyboard bass and rounding out the group is the amazing drumming of Ben Vanderwal. FRIDAY 11.30pm Late night groove series featuring the Hopkins brothers

The brothers return to the Ellington - featuring Lewis Moody on keys and Ollie Christie on bass, Andy (guitar/vox) and Josh (drums) are set to bring the groove big time. We'll be dropping dirty rnb & soul-filled vibes. Busting out classics by Dwele, Erykah Badu, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean & D'Angelo, mixed in with some all-new originals. Click here for tickets

SATURDAY 6.00pm Adam James Robinson Trio

It's been a long time coming, but finally Adam James is showcasing  his original Material. he has  been writing music since he was  15, and never really put it out there, but now feels the urge to do just that with some amazing musicians. With Hans FiancĂ© On Bass/guitar/vocals and Chris Tar On Drums and Adam  on Keys and guitars and vocals. It will be a really great evening of original music with a few twisted covers, being a fusion of many styles such as ;Pop/rock/reggae/funk and soulful vocals. Click here for tickets

SATURDAY 8.00pm Elly Hoyt (Melbourne)

Elly Hoyt is a truly gifted jazz vocalist who has an intoxicating love for music and life - even saying, "music means so much that it slightly rules my existence". The Tasmanian-born, 25-year-old released her debut self-titled album which has won a Bell Award for Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album 2011. James Morrison: "From the moment I first heard Elly sing, I knew she had that classic, indefinable thing that makes one a jazz singer. It's not just a sound, or a choice of notes but a way of approaching a song that lets the listener know - this is the real thing". SATURDAY 11.30pm Stratosfunk

Stratosfunk is all about sharing their love of Soul music from the 60s and 70s. And it's not just about the music, it's not just about the unforgettable hits from Motown and Stax, it's also the clothes, the dance moves, and the raw energy of this kind of music. SUNDAY 3.00pm Metro Big Band 

Metro Big Band returns to The Ellington with a show that’s bigger and better than ever! Of course we’ll be playing the classic big band tunes of Jazz & Swing from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Ella Fitzgerald. Then it’s “no horns barred” with a fabulous mix of songs from the cool cat 50’s and shimmying 60’s – think Dean Martin, Tom Jones, Aretha Franklin and the Supremes.  And we might just find a little something from the 70’s or 80’s to throw in the mix. Click here for tickets

SUNDAY 6.00pm Laura Bernay and the Mike Nelson Quartet Éclectique Album Launch 

Just back from her tour in Tasmania where she performed to a full house at the Devonport Jazz Festival  Laura Bernay is renown for her outstanding “cross-over” styles of singing in several genres from jazz and cabaret to world music and classical. Her beautiful vocal quality and flexibility are all on show on this "Ă©clectique" album of intricate arrangements by Mike Nelson. Come on a song journey with Laura as she traverses a wide range of repertoire including her flawless French chansons from Poulenc to Porter,  sophisticated songs by Bill Evans, Clifford Brown and Benny Golson, and many other surprises from her mixed bag of material. Click here for tickets

This week at The Ellington


WAAPA Jazz and Contemporary graduation recitals kick off this week until the end of October with 29 of the best WAAPA students presenting a 45 minute program representing a culmination of the 3-4 years work at WAAPA. These recitals are of the highest quality and we highly encourage you to come and support our future artists and enjoy some top shelf music at the same time. We are also featuring two more Ellington for Kids - Cushion Concerts with the Libby Hammer Quartet tomorrow at 9.30am and 11am so parents with young kids should certainly book for those. Making her Ellington debut this Thursday is indigenous singer Lois Olney in what will be a very special and rare performance. And finally Howie Morgan and Ben Vanderwal team up again for a great show on Saturday. What a week!!

TUESDAY 9.30am and 11.00am The Ellington for Kids - Cushion Concerts with the Libby Hammer Quartet

Featuring Libby Hammer (vocals) Chris Foster - piano, Nick Abbey - double bass and Michael Perkins – drums. These fine musicians will introduce kids to the world of jazz in a fun, interactive and intimate setting. At around 50 minutes each, these shows are pitched at an age range of 4-7 years old but children of all ages are welcome and will be able to enjoy the event. Just bring a cushion to sit on and be ready to have some fun while you learn about jazz. Click here for tickets

After a sizzling performance in July, Belleville is back at the Ellington with their eclectic mix of Parisian swing and gypsy flare. Lois Olney is a Pilbara Aboriginal woman who has risen above being stolen generation, seeing her brothers die in custody, experiencing continuing racism in this great country and a severe disability to be acknowledged as a remarkable jazz diva inspired by the great Billy Holiday. FRIDAY 6.00pm The Graham Wood Trio

Graham Wood is co-owner of The Ellington Jazz Club as well as director of music at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He is also one of Perth's most in demand and well known Jazz pianists. Graham has performed with an incredible array of famous Jazz artists such as Frank Foster, Sam Rivers, Ernie Watts, Sheila Jordan, Cindy Blackman, Dave Weckl, Claire Martin, Reggie Workman, Ingred Jensen, Mark Murphy, Greg Osby, Bob Sheppard, Carmen Lundy, George Garzone, Katie Noonan and Gretchen Parlarto. FRIDAY 8.00pm Ali Bodycoat Quintet

Ali is one of Perth's finest Jazz singers with a long an illustrious career. Ali has held a trio residency with Graham Wood and other venerable Perth Jazz musicians such as Sam Anning, Dane Alderson and Carl Mackey at the Subiaco Hotel for sixteen years, supported Vince Jones, Grace Knight and Marcia Hynes and consistently works with the state’s top Jazz musicians. Ali has performed at the Perth Jazz Society, Jazz Fremantle, Perth and Fremantle Festivals and worked consistently in Musical Theatre with yellow glass theatre inc since studying at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2002. As her last gig before her graduating recital (Tuesday 16th, 9:30pm, Ellington) Saffron Sharp will sing as a part this modern guitar trio in a release of jazz goodness! Saffron Sharp sings with passion and improvises with the band to create a new performance every time. The Saturday trio set is very relaxed and allows for a more open style of jazz. The spontaneous composition that arises with such wonderful and seasoned musicians is a treat to see and perfect to kick off your Saturday evening with a pre-drink or two. Mercy Me, Mercy You… With a succulent sweet soul infused voice, hand in hand with a dynamic and commanding stage presence, Odette Mercy is certainly making her mark as a front woman and female vocalist. She has been lending her vocals to the recorded tracks of local artists such as the Brow Horn Orchestra, The Accumulated Gestures, and as a special guest in live performances with Rezide and STOOPFRESH. Backing her is her band, The Soul Atomics, a line-up who has more than 50 years tallied on their wall of experience. This week at The Ellington


Some outstanding shows this week with the return of the charming Cathrine Summers from Sydney on Tuesday, an interesting collaboration with Ben Vanderwal on Wednesday, Howie Morgan and his cousin Peter will be in soul mode on Thursday and a weekend full of great shows including the debut for Gabriel Fatin trio on Friday - finished off with Sean Coffin from Sydney on Sunday. Parents - don't miss the The Ellington for Kids - Cushion Concerts with the Libby Hammer Quartet next Monday and Tuesday and we also have a fantastic list of WAAPA Jazz and Contemporary graduation recitals in October.

TUESDAY 8.00pm Cathrine Summers (Sydney)

Cathrine Summers, a charismatic, powerful and dynamic singer who is now a regular feature on the Sydney and Perth jazz scene. Her voice is designed for jazz – rich and husky with a soulful tone that you just can't learn. This seasoned performer entertains audiences with a repertoire of swinging jazz standards along with some “pop-turned-jazz” where Summers seamlessly weaves some Amy Winehouse, Radiohead, The Beatles, Simply Red and even Katy Perry into her sets.  She delights with her fresh, charismatic and fun style that has a contagious affect leaving people wanting more. Click here for tickets

WEDNESDAY 8.00pm The Perth Jazz Society presents The Collaboratory with Ben Vanderwal - Simon Jeans and Marcio Mendes

Join the PJS on the first Wednesday of each month at The Ellington to see fresh and exciting collaborations between established local musicians. From jazz, to country, through to pop music, Ben Vanderwal is one who has made collaboration an art form in itself. THURSDAY 8.00pm Did you hear about the Morgans

Be sure to catch this fantastic collaboration between Perth's own Howie Morgan and his cousin Peter Morgan. Howie is well know to Perth and Ellington crowds for his soulful and blues driven approach to his music. He heads up projects such as The Howie Morgan Project and the ever popular SOULTOWN show. His cousin Peter has been an established and well respected part of the Australian and New Zealand music industry for many years. With a unique soulful vocal style, Peter's achievements are exciting, diverse and memorable. FRIDAY 6.00pm Gabriel Fatin Trio

Gabriel is in his second year of the jazz course at the West Australian Academy Of Performing Arts and this is his first performance under his own name. Playing a mixture of standards and originals, as well as more contemporary tunes by artists such as Ellis Marsalis and Herbie Hancock, it promises to be a great evening of music. Joining him will be Ashley De Neef (bass), and Sam O'Connell (drums), and in the second set Matthew McGlynn (trumpet) and Shaun Rammers (tenor saxophone) will also take to the stage. Click here for tickets

FRIDAY 8.00pm James Flynn and The Fly Big Band

lynn will again capture Sinatra, Dean Martin & Bobby Darins music at the finger-snapping peak of their night club alchemy. Performing such hits as ‘Mack the Knife’, ‘Beyond the sea’, ’Hello young lovers’, ‘Fly me to the moon’, ‘Aint that a kick in the head’ and many more. James Flynn brings to his vocal performance a level of professionalism and polish that is of international calibre. FRIDAY 11.30pm Soothe featuring Amanda Dee

Leading this successful band, vocalist Amanda Dee is clocking up her 25th year as a professional performer in Perth and has been described as having one of the smoothest, soulful voices you are likely to hear. Amanda’s incredible vocal range coupled with a unique ability to read the crowd makes her one of the most influential female vocalists working in Perth. Her vast career has seen her produce and perform numerous floorshows for nightclubs and special events, including a Dianna Ross show. Soothe are one of Perth’s most dedicated and long running bands, with a successful nine years at the Universal Bar and now after ten years, continue to pack the house every Saturday night in Bennys bar in Fremantle. SATURDAY 6.00pm Jade-Lori Crompton Trio

Don't miss one of our favourite singers as she returns for the early Jazz show as  she once again makes a splash with the sultry and bluesey tones reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday and Sarah Vaughan. Her voice is said to be coloured by heartfelt Gospel tones, syrup smooth R&B, and playful melodies reminiscent of childhood Jazz influences. With a fusion of angelic melodies and sassy vocals this singer leaves her audience captured. SATURDAY 8.00pm Tiaryn

Tiaryn is Perth's pop-pianist, singer/songwriter sensation - now residing in Melbourne. An engaging artist who leaves audiences in awe, Tiaryn prides herself on striving to write completely original lyrics & catchy melodies, conjuring imagery of timeless stories like lost & found love whilst also aiming to surprise the listener with quirky and peculiar lyrics such as in her songs “My Big Bird” and “Banana Man”. SATURDAY 11.30pm Empire with special guest Solomon Pitt

Empire has established itself as one of Perth's leading young bands with a tight band sound and a high energy performance level. After former singer Ryan Thronicroft decided to take a break, Empire have continued to perform with a range of guest singers. Tonight they are joined by the soul man Solomon Pitt in an Ellington first. Solomon is well know to late set enthusiasts and house a brilliantly powerful voice and soulful sound. Sean Coffin is one of Australia's best saxophonists and Jazz educators is returning to The Ellington for a one off performance. Sean has been travelling around the country bringing his compositions and dynamic saxophone sound.
