Dale Boaden Trio 8pm tonight at The Ellington

One short year out of the WA Academy of Performing Arts, Dale Boaden has toured WA, supported the Bondi Cigars, worked closely with the Perth Jazz Society giving jazz workshops to various schools across WA, been invited to perform as part of the Jazz Guitar Society of WA annual fundraiser (along side Ray Walker, Cliff Lynton and Hank Marvin) and most recently been invited by the WA Symphony Orchestra to perform with them as they pay tribute to the music of Gershwin. His extensive work as a sideman for various small jazz groups around Perth has seen him gain essential experience on the band stand, in addition to regular performances of his own original music with the Dale Boaden Trio.

The Dale Boaden Trio is a modern, interactive, unique jazz band on the Perth music scene. Performing mainly original music composed my Dale, this group combines the musical personalities of all members to create a bold, energetic sound. In doing so, the Dale Boaden Trio has developed a reputation as one of the most exciting up and coming groups of the year.

“A recent graduate of the highly acclaimed performance institution WAAPA at ECU, Dale has roared onto the jazz scene as a highly accomplished jazz soloist, ensemble guitarist and composer. Watch this space!” – Helen Matthews

With her roots firmly in Jazz, it is easy to recognize her love of pop, blues, r’n'b and latin rhythms. Her sound is warm and rich, her style exciting and dynamic.

Her experience, confidence and dynamic stage presence make her an enticing performer.

For the past 16 years Marnie has played in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast and to international audiences in Singapore, China and Japan.

She has performed at the Kiama Jazz festival (NSW), Wangaratta International Jazz Festival (VIC), Sanctuary Cove Festival of Jazz (QLD), River Festival (QLD) and Fremantle International Jazz Festival(WA).

“I consider Marnie to be one of the few genuine singers with a truly creative edge. I have seen Marnie develop both professionally and artistically over recent years, her dedication to her craft is without question.” Helen Matthews.

“One outstanding quality about Marnie is that she is audacious, and because of this, she is versatile. It is not uncommon for Marnie to be singing jazz one night and fronting her own funk soul unit the next week. Marnie will try anything. She personifies the the indelible Australian quality of: “avagoyamug”,, which means quite simply: “go for it”. We’ll all be hearing more about Marnie Kent. Don Gomes.
