SATURDAY 8.00pm James Flynn - Chatin' with Chet

Chet Baker was a jazz man so cool you wanted him frozen at his peak. The popular trumpeter and singer was the pinnacle of hipness back in the 50’s. With his laid back, smooth, west coast sound and his good looks Chet Baker could probably have been a movie star. Instead he became a drug addict. The history books haven’t been fair to this Jazz legend focussing more on his weaknesses rather than his immense talent. A rival to Miles Davis and a clever collaborator Baker partnered with Charlie Parker and more significantly with Gerry Mulligan, to create his own unique sound and bring us some wonderful music. Bakers you tube clips are still popular today almost a quarter of a century after his demise.
