Nina Ferro (UK) headlines this week at The Ellington


The wonderful vocal talents of Nina Ferro will be sure to amaze - and as an added bonus she will be joined by pianist Grant Windsor before he flies back to London. Also catch the debut of Chris Foster - Nick Abbey - Ben Falle Trio on Tuesday, a farewell show for Aaron Spiers on Wednesday and a big weekend with the return of James Flynn after an extended absence.

TUESDAY 8.00pm Chris Foster - Nick Abbey - Ben Falle Trio
Through years of friendship and collaboration this trio have forged a deep musical connection. They have developed an identifiable group sound though a shared love of modern piano trio groups, improvised European music and traditional jazz, creating music that is melodic, rhythmically exciting and sincere. Tonight’s performance will showcase the trio’s most recent compositions, which they plan to record in 2012. Click here for tickets

WEDNESDAY 8.00pm Aaron Spiers Group
This performance will feature a brand new line-up of the Aaron Spiers Quintet starring Tal Cohen-Piano, Sean Little-Saxophones, Jacob Evans-Drums and Wency D’Souza-Percussion, performing Aaron’s signature mix of latin, funk and jazz inspired fusion. The music will be an energetic synthesis of improvisation and composition intermingled with bustling grooves that will stimulate and excite the senses. Click here for tickets

THURSDAY 8.00pm Nina Ferro (UK)
"A fabulous performer with a knockout voice." - Tony Bennett. Join in the celebration of Nina's return performance at the Ellington Club, Perth.  Nina will be performing new original material from her album "Waiting for the Sunset" featuring original arrangements by Grant Windsor (a London based Perth musician) as well as jazz and soul classics. FRIDAY 8.00pm James Flynn and The Fly Little Big Band
After three months performing overseas in Singapore, Malaysia, Spain, Germany & Scotland" Flynn returns for two nights featuring Sinatra, Dean Martin & Bobby Darins music at the finger-snapping peak of their night club alchemy. Performing such hits as ‘Mack the Knife’, ‘Beyond the sea’, ’Hello young lovers’, ‘Fly me to the moon’, ‘Aint that a kick in the head’ and many more. Click here for tickets

Shameem & band have just released their debut album!! SATURDAY 11.30pm Horizon Art Orchestra
The Ellington's Late Night Groove Series is for the first time showcasing a live, powerhouse big band. On this special occasion the popular vocal sounds of Carrie Pereira and Luke Dewing will be accompanied by the tightest horn lines and grooving rhythm section of the Horizon Art Orchestra, featuring explosive arrangements of r&b, soul, funk and motown classics. HAO is the newest big band out of Perth, recently capping off a frenetic first year of performing and recording original music. Formed by composers Elliott Hughes and Daniel Connor, this edgy young ensemble is comprised of fifteen exceptional and impassioned instrumentalists and virtuosic musicians. Click here for tickets

SUNDAY 6.30pm Decadent Soul
Decadent Soul is as the name depicts, full of soulful decadence. Music we all can relate to and sing. Covering genres such as soul, blues, motown, rock and even pop. Paula Parore (Paula P) ''The Voice of Channel 7 News" got her start on the Perth Music scene three years ago singing back up. She went on to become a grand finalist in Perths first talent showcase "Perth Star" that screened on Foxtel's Aurora Station. Since then she has started two of her own bands "Decadent Soul" which has performed at the prestigious Ellington Jazz Club numerous times, and "BOX PARTY" Her amazing talent and infectious nature makes her a delight to watch on stage. Click here for tickets
