Andrew Winton - Happy Album Launch 8.00pm tonight at The Ellington

To celebrate the December 2nd release of Andrew Winton’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, Happy, he will be having his album launch show in the fabulous surrounds of The Ellington Jazz Club. Gaining world-wide recognition for his stellar lap-slide guitar playing and unique instrument designs, one of Australia’s hardest working independent musicians brings his one-of-a-kind performance to the Ellington stage.

An Andrew Winton live show covers everything from rootsy infectious grooves to alt-country melancholic rambles, old-school blues to beatboxing and loops, lyrically and melodically beautiful folk to jazz-influenced acoustic guitar wizardry and everything in between! Andrew features an array of unique lap guitars, including the Lucky 13 double-neck 13-string lap guitar made for him by Don’t Fret Instruments (Alabama, USA) – come to a show and find out how this beautiful cypress tree root from the Sipsey River became the only lap guitar of its kind on the planet! With a voice likened to Ben Harper and Sting.

Andrew’s reputation as a performer has grown, and audiences and venues alike invite him back after every show.

Andrew has been described as “…a sublime stylist…” (Sydney Morning Herald), and  “…a wizard on the lap-steel…” (Rhythms Magazine), has received numerous awards for his songwriting, and has attracted the attention of blues greats such as John Mayall who recently recorded a cover of one of Andrew’s songs on his latest album. Along with this, Andrew’s live shows have been receiving rave reviews, as he manages to capture the perfect blend of musical talent, infectious and captivating tunes, individuality, on-stage warmth and humour, and genuine approachability that audiences love.
This show will sell out so make sure you book your tickets early!
