Allira Wilson and the Jamie Oehlers Quartet 8.00pm tonight at The Ellington

Allira Wilson is quickly emerging as one of Western Australia’s greatest young talents, whose musical approach has been described as “brave and raw as it is supple and intricate”.  Allira has performed at many venues including the Ellington Jazz Club, with performances under her own name and also with the jazz band Blowfish, with Jamie Oehlers.

She has sung with popular big band MFO, All For One Big Band and WAYJO, performing at the Quarry Amphitheatre and Perth Concert Hall with Fred Wesley and John Morrison. She has also performed at the PJS for the Ladies of Jazz Concert 2009 and has performed for the premier of WA at Parliament House. Described as creative, youthful and original, this soulful jazz musician puts an innovative twist on jazz favourites.

Winner of the 2003 World Saxophone Competition and 2007 Australian Jazz Artist of the Year, Jamie Oehlers performs in a quartet setting that is in high demand at gigs and festivals around Australia and the world.

His last CD "On a Clear Day" was winner of the ABC Limelight Award for best Jazz Release, with his previous 3 being recipients of Australian Jazz Bell Awards for Best Modern Jazz Release.
