Juliana Areias - Born to Samba - Extra Carnival show tonight 8.00pm at The Ellington


Carnival, the greatest party on earth. It was precisely in a Carnival summer night that Brazilian Singer Juliana Areias was born.

Due to the high demand and incredible success of  Juliana Areias – Born to Samba Concert on 7 February, she is back to celebrate and create her own carnival in Perth, bringing to the Ellington Jazz Club a taste of this unique atmosphere again. The concert embraces sensuous Brazilian rhythms featuring some of the finest Sambas of all times, uniting traditional and contemporary composers such as: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jorge Benjor, Noel Rosa, Cartola, Joao Bosco, Gonzaquinha, Djavan, Caetano Veloso, Edu Lobo, Chico Buarque, Luiz Melodia, Lenine,  Zeca Pagodinho, Arlindo Cruz, Eduardo Godin, Rosa Passos,  Rita Lee and Maria Gadu.

Supported by a smoking and sensational “Samba Big Band”, Juliana Areias is honoured  to share the stage with:
- Marcio Mendes  (guitar , cavaquinho, percussion, backing vocal , musical direction /arrangement)
- Adam Springuetti ( double bass, guitar, backing vocals  musical direction/arrangement)
- Jeremy Greig (Tombone)
- Chris Tarr ( drums)

- Gabriel Porto ( percussion, backing vocals)

Juliana Areias’ career includes a performance at the revered Montreux Jazz Festival. Her authentic Brazilian voice, sense of groove, engaging charisma and a very personal and passionate stage presence are trademarks of her work.
