The Strides (Sydney) tonight at The Ellington 8.00pm

With two highly acclaimed albums and a string of non-stop touring under their belt, Sydney’s Reggae, Afrobeat powerhouse The Strides will make their long anticipated WA debut!
This special night at the Ellington is also a rare opportunity to catch The Strides in an intimate setting, stretching out instrumentally over what would usually be vocally dominated compositions.  Featuring Jeremy Rose - Sax (2010 Bell Award Winner), Nick Garbett - Trumpet (2010 Wangarratta National Jazz Awards 3rd place finalist), Matt Smith – Guitar (Wangarratta National Jazz Awards Finalist) and Alan Hicks - Drums (Clark Terry quintet – NYC 2008).  The night will also feature Vocalist Ras Roni, from Barbados via London, Fijian MC Ltl GZEUS (Little Jesus), Bassist Rory Brown and Pianist Danny Pliner.

The Strides live show is as explosive as it is authentic, with a unique blend of Roots Reggae, Dance hall, Jazz, hip hop and Nigerian inspired Afrobeat. The Strides latest release “ Reclamation” faithfully channels the sounds of Bob and Damian Marley, Fela Kuti, Tony Allen, Barrington Levy and The Skatalites, whilst still forging a sound that is uniquely their own.
