FRIDAY 11.30pm Rachel Claudio (Paris)
Driven by a relentless passion for words, Rachel Claudio's lyrics have a knack of hitting truth right between the eyes. Her song-writing rocks a delicate balance of pop & soul. Her multi-textured voice flips and turns in a stunning blend of power & sweetness. Native to Perth, Western Australia, singer/composer/producer Rachel Claudio arrived in France in 2006, Claudio had already began forging a name in electronic music, creating the label Jaffa Music with DJ Nicolas Vautier. It began a period of soulful house marked by collaborations with artists like Martin Solveig, Jamie Lewis, Dimitri from Paris, among many others. Her distinct vocal sound, production skills & lyrics saw her become one of the definitive vocalists of the soulful house community. She delivered her particular brand of soul in the debut album, Claudiography (to mean, "the writing of Claudio") [Kromatik, France (2011)] Claudio's live performances never leave an audience ambivalent. Her vocal agility, her percussive flow and her implacable conviction have seen her in concert all over the globe, from Sao Paolo to Philadelphia, New York to Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong to Melbourne, Amsterdam, Moscow... She has opened for artists such as Common, The Roots, Raheem DeVaughn, Beady Belle, Ben l'Oncle Soul, Franck McComb.. the list goes on. The concept behind the C.L.AUDIO TAPE is simply to honor some of her favorite new-school beatmakers & some of her favorite old-school songwriters in a most unexpected clash of mash-ups (e.g. Barrington Levy v.s. Flying Lotus). Featuring Solomon Pitt, Danny Martin, Cristal Phillips, Graham Wood, Lewis Moody, Simon Jeans and Sean Phillips. Click here for tickets

SUNDAY 6.00pm Aravena-Keevers-Wallace Trio
Touring from Switzerland/UK/Melbourne with special guest Jamie Oehlers. Not a traditional jazz piano trio – where presumably the rhythm section lays it down while the pianist explores the possibilities in lengthy sojourns – would be the best, or rather more accurate description of this internationally based ensemble. Canadian born/UK based drummer Chris Wallace, Chilean born/Australian raised (now based in Switzerland) bassist Rodrigo Aravena and Melbourne pianist Sam Keevers like to approach their musical escapades 'in the spirit of adventure'. Or, another way of putting it would be 'a three-way conversation' where the three musicians are not separate elements: instead, they're three components of the same entity where at any moment and for whatever reason, any one of the elements can shift position, elevation, intensity, etc... The AKW Trio's repertoire comprises original compositions as well as tunes by Theolonious Monk and Wayne Shorter. Click here for tickets
