TUESDAY 8.00pm Spence - MacDonald duo and Gilded
Alister Spence (Australia) piano, Raymond MacDonald (Scotland) alto/soprano sax. This duo dives joyfully headlong into open improvisation and realtime composition. SATURDAY 8.00pm Howie Morgan and Simon Jeans
Old Man Blues Guitar Band: set Feb 2, 1973. Howie Morgan & Simon Jeans join forces to put on a sizzling showcase of sweet soulful singing and guitar slinging. The two Perth guitarists, singers &/or trombone owners were both born on this very same day some 40 years ago (technically Howie is the eldest being born in NZ, go easy on the old guy), so expect to hear and see a bit of a musical party onstage. They will be turning off their hearing aids and turning the amps up to 11 to serve some wailing doses of stinging electric voodoo, acoustic guitar, lap steel… you name it. Howie promises to play a slide guitar solo behind his back with his false teeth at the same time, and Simon is even going to sing a couple of tunes if he can stand back up on his walking frame after fiddling with his effects pedals. Joining these cranky old blues dogs will be the ever youthful team of Matt Branton on bass, Chris Tarr on drums & Graham Wood on keys as well as a few special guests TBA. Click here for tickets
