It is our pleasure to feature a much anticipated visit from Melbourne fusion outfit Logic - featuring Dane Alderson and Ben Vanderwal (Monday), Grace Woodroofe with two amazing shows of passionate music (Tuesday and Wednesday), Chelsea J Gibsons' CD launch (Thursday), two late night groove shows from the king and queen of soul - Solomon Pitt and Cristal Phillips (Friday and Saturday) and the return of a girl on a mission worth supporting - Ezereve (Sunday).
With her uniquely warm, husky, and sometimes mournful voice, Grace Woodroofe is already making a special mark on the music scene. At just twenty years of age, Perth-born Grace possesses wisdom and artistry well beyond her years. “I was greatly inspired by blues singers, and developed my own blues indie sound”. At the age of sixteen, Grace’s demo was placed in the capable hands of Ben Harper by none other than the late Heath Ledger. “I got an email from Heath saying ‘I think you make really honest, pure music, and I want to help you get it out there’. Heath flew me out to LA, and he organised for me to do some recordings with several producers that he thought could help me. That’s when I first met Ben”. She has since forged a wonderful reputation and following in Perth and abroad through inspired, passionate performances looks set to take the world by storm. and In the words of Mr. Ben Harper himself, ‘You are not going to believe this girl’. Logic has been making waves on the jazz/fusion scene since its inception in 1999. Based in Melbourne, Australia, the ensemble aims to present its own unique, contemporary sound whilst preserving the spontaneous and interactive approach of the jazz tradition. The compositions of Glenn Cannon and Tim Wilson stem from diverse musical influences including Jazz, Electronic, Latin, Classical, Folk and Pop music. Logic’s self-titled debut album was released in 2002 and received glowing reviews and international airplay. Since then the group has also released The Waiting Game (2004), Native Strut (2008), The Heirachy (2010) and a live DVD, Live in 2011.
