Four different Christmas shows from The Andrews Sisters (tonight), MFO (Wednesday) and Libby Hammer (Friday and Saturday) will get you in the festive mood. Also Tal Cohen releases his debut CD Thursday and Adrian Kelly return for a special show on Wednesday after a year on the road in Asia. Come and eat, drink and be merry at The Ellington Jazz Club.
MONDAY 7.00pm Christmas with the Andrews Sisters
Join Patty, Maxene and LaVerne for some yuletide cheer as they celebrate the spirit of Christmas. Including such Christmas classics as; Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, Merry Christmas Polka, White Christmas, Silver Bells and many more, guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit! TUESDAY 8.00pm Adrian Kelly (Hong Kong)
Adrian Kelly returns to Perth for one show only after a year on the road with Chinese cantopop artist Jacky Cheung. Celebrating the imminent release of his latest solo album, Adrian and his all star rhythm section will take you on a musical tour of Asia, including traditional Chinese songs, jazz standards, and some favourite tunes from the tour. WEDNESDAY 8.00pm Mace Francis Orchestra Christmas show
Expect the unexpected as MFO celebrates Christmas in style with new arrangements of your favourite Christmas songs by Mace Francis and Tilman Robinson. The show will also feature recently recorded original music by Tilman alongside all of the hits from Mace. THURSDAY 8.00pm Tal Cohen CD Launch
Regarded as one of the most exciting young jazz pianists around, Tal Cohen is a fine talent who brings to the stage a refreshing approach to jazz piano, not just as a pianist but also as a refined composer. Tal has spent the last 18 months writing material for his long anticipated album “Yellow Sticker”. The album is comprised of a selection of jazz standards arrangements along with Tal’s quintessential compositions. The record also features acclaimed perth musicians Jamie Oehlers on tenor saxophone, Chris Tarr on drums and Pete Jeavons on bass. Click here for tickets
FRIDAY 8.00pm Libby Hammer Christmas show
Join the effervescent Libby Hammer and her band for the best feel-good show of the season when they present an entire program of jazzy Christmas tunes including cuties such as All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth, Cool Yule and Santa Baby. There'll be a few sentimental favourites to get you feeling warm and fuzzy, but when the eggnog kicks in, you may well end up Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, so bring along your sweetheart or your whole gang and swing into the most wonderful time of the year in style.
